Lacey Socks: $50 - 2 Sessions

Sundays 3/4/18 and 3/18/18 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM

You won’t be able to resist the Darling Lace Socks pattern. Featuring a delightful little lace pattern up the calf of the sock, you’ll love knitting and wearing these socks. You can fit these socks into almost any type of outfit, from elegant to girly. When it comes to knitting, the simple lace pattern will keep knitters who are already familiar with making socks engaged and pleasantly challenged. You’ll find yourself wanting to show off these socks wherever you go. Students can choose any fingering/sock weight yarn (#1) You will be using size 2 double pointed needles or 32” or longer circular needle if you want to use the Magic Loop technique. You will also need stitch markers.

Beaded Fingerless Mitts: $25 - 1 Session

Wednesday 3/7/18 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM

Come and learn to create for yourself or for a gift, this elegant pair of beaded fingerless mitts. You will learn to knit with beads. The fingerless mitts are knitted on size 3 double pointed needles. The supply list is available at the shop, when you sign up. All the info is on the supply list. Come and enjoy. Level: intermediate knitters. Please come to the class, with the beads stranded on the yarn.

Learn to Double Knit a Hat: $50 - 2 Sessions

Sundays 3/11/18 and 3/25/18 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM

Double knitting is a cool knitting technique that allows you to produce a double layer of Stockinette Stitch fabric with mirror-image colorwork while knitting both layers at the same time. You will need 200 yards of 2 colors of fingering/sock weight yarn, size 4 needles – double points or 40” circular for Magic Loop or 2 circular needles. Stitch markers and darning needle. You will purchase the pattern from Ravelry – Herding Cats Double Knit Hat by Karen Buhr $5. This is the debut of Joan Smith as a teacher at the Yarn Basket. Many of you know her from her many knitting projects at the table.

Intro to Continental Knitting: $25 - 1 Session

Wednesday 3/14/18 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM

Learn how to knit holding the working yarn with your left hand. This is a great way for crochet-ers to learn to knit easily! This technique greatly reduces the movement of the arms and reduces chances for repetitive stress injuries. Bring some scrap yarn and needles or buy a new project to try out this different way of knitting!

Finishing Class: $25 - 1 Session

Wednesday 3/21/18 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM

You may have just completed a sweater so this is the perfect timing for this class! This is a one session class. Warren will lead you through the process of sewing side seams, knitting the shoulders together, and picking up stitches. Please bring a project that needs to be put together or knit 4 swatches of stockinet stitch. One session. You will need a yarn needle and a 3rd knitting needle to learn the 3 needle bind off. Get in and learn how to get those unfinished projects FINISHED! Maybe you didn’t finish projects for Christmas but they are done now! Don’t miss this opportunity!

Ruffle Scarf: $25 - 1 Session

Wednesday 3/28/18 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM

You will learn how to knit this ruffle scarf, clever use of short rows makes the outer edges of this scarf longer than the center spine creating a ruffle effect: You will have a beautiful scarf with 2 sides knitted at the same time. Length of the scarf depends on you. Between 72 inch to 86 inch. This scarf is a great addition to any piece of clothing, with all the ruffle, any outfit becomes very elegant. You will get a lot of compliments. Suggested knitting worsted weight yarns (2 skeins, around 400 yards), Cascade superwash, Encore, Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran. Size 7 or 8 needles. Come and have fun learning how to make this scarf.

Very Beginning Knitting Class: $50 - 2 Sessions

Wednesdays 4/4/18 and 4/11/18 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM

This 2-part class will cover the process of casting on, knitting, purling and casting off. You will practice these techniques by knitting squares which can then be sewn together or used as coasters! After that the whole world of knitting is opened up to you! You will need 1 skein of yarn and straight knitting needles sized according to your yarn. A reference book on knitting is highly recommended and there are several to choose from in the shop. Come in prior to class to select yarn from among choices available.

Learn to Knit A Brioche Scarf: $25 - 1 Session

Sunday 4/15/18 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM

Brioche knitting is a family of knitting patterns involving tucked stitches, i.e., yarn overs that are knitted together with a slipped stitch from the previous row. You will learn the Brioche stitch to create a wonderfully cushy scarf! DK weight yarn (approximately 375 yds) – the sample is made with Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino US size #6 needles – straight or circular.

Learn to Correct Knitting Mistakes Class: $25 - 1 Session

Wednesday 4/18/18 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM

Back by popular demand! Have you ever dropped a stitch? Purled when you should have knitted --- but didn’t see it until 10 rows further along!!!???? Have you had to rip your knitting out only to find the stitches that are on your needles are backwards, mixed up or disappearing? Made a mistake on the edge of your work and it starts to unravel!?!?! Or crossed a cable the wrong way!!!? (We all have☺!)Yes – we will teach you how to correct all these mistakes. You can bring mistakes in or knit some swatches with mistakes in them or just watch and learn the techniques.

Crochet Feather & Fan Scarf Class: $25 - 1 Session

Sunday 4/22/18 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM

This is a crocheted version of the knitted feather and fan pattern. In this class, you will learn the Foundation Single Crochet stitch, which is a single crochet stitch that does not require the traditional foundation chain stitch. Two skeins of Cascade Ultra Pima yarn are recommended for this project, but similar weight yarn can be substituted. Bring an H (5.00mm) crochet hook or similar size hooks for gauge. For this class, you need to know how to chain, single crochet and double crochet.

Knit a Market Bag: $25 - 1 Session

Wednesday 4/25/18 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM

You’ve seen them in movies and on TV. Now you can learn to knit your own market bag for the ultimate in recycling! Re-use time and time again for groceries and produce. These will make great gifts! I have simplified the pattern so you will fly with this project. You can make several by the holidays for gifts! Any yarn that contains linen or silk is suitable for this project Circular needle sizes 6 & 10, 32” or 40” and stitch marker needed. Original instructions use double pointed needles – I have re-written the direction to use Magic Loop or 2 same size circular needles.
